PJDS (BE)
Gentse lieveling
Pieter-Jan De Smet, the man behind the group PJDS, has many facets and is no longer a stranger in Ghent. The fact that he is still underestimated has to do with his soft nature.
Pieter-Jan started making music as a teenager, but it was with The Lionhearts and a finalist spot in Humo’s Rock Rally in 1988 that he first came into the spotlight. In the 1990s, he recorded two albums under his own name with guitarist Geoffrey Burton, which included radio hits like "August," "Baby’s in the World," and "Fire."
After a period of quiet, he returned under the pseudonym Beuzak and started his own record label. Over the years, his band PJDS released four albums, the latest being "Extinct Birds," which came out in early 2023 and was well-received by the press.
Masterpiece! (OOR)
"Extinct Birds" proves that PJDS is still one of the most underrated bands in the country. (De Morgen)
(…) These days, De Smet manages everything independently, even though his music is of international quality. In a just world, record labels would be vying for the chance to release his work. (…) If PJDS were a British or American band, it would literally be showered with superlatives. (Dirk Steenhaut)
PJDS surpasse themselves with this album. Anyone who takes the time to truly listen to this album will find that it is one of the most fascinating records to have been released in recent years. (Luminous Dash)
